more photos here!

sleater-kinney were brillant! as if it needs saying. before dead meadow went on, i saw corin with her son walking to the back of the club - marshall is such a cutie but he looked so overwhelmed. i was right at the front - the front being about a metre away from the actual stage. security had set up a metal barrier, carrie said that they tried to get rid of it because it was obviously teh suck. so there was a big gap between the fans and the band, with three security guards standing in the middle as if they were totally oblivious that there was a show going on! the crowd was surprisingly calm, compared to the last time s-k where in toronto anyway. carrie was so fucking adorable, it was almost if i forgot how much i loved her! she has such incrediable stage presence. corin was fabulous and though i had a poor view of janet - she was as rocking as always. squee!

I'm such a sell out. I bought a paid account. The fact that the main motivation for doing so was simply so I could have more than three icons doesn't help the situation much. This is your tax-dollars at work, Canada! Enabling me to pay for something that is otherwise free. Now we shall all do the capitalist dance of superiority! (Oh, Anya!)

Currently (Re-)Reading: "Good Omens: The Nice and Accurate Prophesies of Agnes Nutter, witch" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, also known as The Book(tm).

The Pickering Public Library now carries Shameless! I don't want to take all the credit for this, but I can't think of anyone else in this town that would have written an over-enthusiastic persuasion piece for the magazine on the back of a library comment card! Little miracles.

I'm still awaiting on my copy of "The Woods". Copies, actually. I ordered both the CD and LP because I'm such a kinney-bopper (Get it? Like "teenybopper", except cool-er?). And I'll be seeing Sleater-Kinney on the 18th!

It's been so warm lately, the other day it was about 24 degrees. Shit. I've been helping my mum with the garden and I noticed that some flowers are apparently copywrited. A part of me is surprised that I'm surprised by this. It's just weird. Also, THEY - the mysterious overloads of the housing complex - put the swings back up and this makes me uncharastically giddy. I don't understand why they take them down for the autumn and winter, just because it's cold doesn't mean you can't swing!

(Why does this sound so forced?)

currently reading: "The Warrior-Prophet: The Prince of Nothing, Book 2" by R. Scott Bakker

current song: The Jane Brooks Project; "Don't Blame Me"

"Come, there's no use crying like that!" said Alice to herself, rather sharply. "I advise you to leave off this minute!" She generally gave herself very good advice, (though she very seldom followed it), and sometimes she scolded herself so severely as to bring tears to her eyes; and once she remembered trying to box her own ears for having cheated herself in a game of croquet she was playing against herself, for this curious and child was fond of pretending to be two people. "But it's no use now," thought poor Alice, "to pretend to be two people! Why, there's hardly enough of me left to make one respectable person!"

my first out of town protest, oh my! i originally had this really long post but then realised it made no sense. but here's a breakdown:

- sleeping on a bus is not comfortable
- especially after being up for almost 24 hours prior
- people with kerry/edwards signs - what the fuck?
- smoking pot on parliment hill goes good with vegan cookies and possibly avacaodo
- there is a chance that jenn and i may be in the background of a sketch on this hour has 22 minutes(!)
- people in random costumes, namely a rabbit and/or mummy, are awesome
- cops in gasmasks are disheartening
- heckling cops is best done to a wicked drum beat
- setting a tire on fire is never a good idea
- neither is kicking it and then fighting about where it should be kicked
- especially when the riot cops are right there and just waiting for an excuse
- when in doubt, mindlessly follow the person with the megaphone
- sleeping on a bus is not comfortable
- especially when you are sore from walking around most of downtown ottawa and smell bad
